This free, six-module online tutorial from The National Mentoring Partnership provides a fantastic introduction to the benefits of mentoring, the personal qualities and commitment required, the role of a mentor, the stages of a mentoring relationship, and communication skills needed for a successful mentoring experience.

Elements of Effective Practice (Adobe Acrobat File)
These helpful guidelines from the National Mentoring Partnership can be used for designing, planning, managing, operating, and evaluating a youth mentoring program. Slight adaptations will be needed for working with community college students, but the principles are sound. The Minority Male Mentoring Project: Best Practices Portfolio (Adobe Acrobat File)
